Mechanical Engineering Technician
Job Responsibilities
Creare seeks a dynamic and experienced Mechanical Engineering Technician to support engineering projects with fabrication and assembly skills, testing, data collection and reduction, and basic CAD modeling. Primary responsibilities include (1) assembling and fabricating mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic hardware, test facilities, and prototypes; (2) setting up and conducting experiments; (3) troubleshooting components, facilities, and experiments; and (4) recording data, data reduction, and creating/maintaining project documentation.
Professional Requirements
An ideal candidate would possess an Engineering Technology degree and five years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Skills and prior experience with any of the following increase fit to the position: (1) demonstrated and broad experience in traditional fabrication including manual machining skills (lathes/mills/grinders), welding, prototyping, plumbing, hydraulics, wiring, and assembly; (2) selecting, installing, and maintaining instrumentation; (3) interpreting, modifying, and creating CAD models, and (4) understanding and applying engineering fundamentals. The successful candidate will possess an intuitive understanding of mechanical systems, the ability to multi-task and appropriately prioritize competing demands, organization, computer proficiency, strong record-keeping, written/verbal communication skills, and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
