Strategic Analysis, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented (Sr. Scientist/Engineer) to join our dynamic team and support the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s Biological Technologies Office (DARPA BTO). This candidate will support the development and management of current and planned programs at the intersection of materials science, synthetic biology, and bioelectronics. These planned programs aim to develop novel biological and biomimetic materials to support the Department of Defense (DoD).

Responsibilities: 

•Conduct thorough research on the latest advancements and breakthroughs in biotechnology through various sources such as scientific journals, industry publications, patents, and conference proceedings.
•Analyze and interpret complex scientific data, literature, and market reports to identify trends, potential opportunities, and risks in the biotechnology sector.
•Analyze a variety of information and intelligence of threats facing the systems, assets, and resources critical to the national defense and develop research studies and recommendations.
•Create detailed reports, presentations, and strategic recommendations based on research findings to guide decision-making processes.
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide insights and support business strategies.
•Monitor and evaluate competitor activities, product launches, and intellectual property portfolios in the biotechnology industry.
•Stay up to date with regulatory requirements and changes in the biotechnology sector and ensure compliance with relevant laws and guidelines.
•Provide expertise and guidance on scientific and technological aspects to internal stakeholders.
•Provide analytical assessments of potential biotechnology threats to the U.S. to the Office Director for evaluation of potential solution development.
•Provide additional analysis in response to specific threats and incident reports, as needed.

Requirements: 

•Ph.D. in a field relevant to the support of bioelectronics, materials science, and/or synthetic biology-related programs, with a breadth of expertise to assess technologies across a broad range of applications.
•Experience in bioelectronic methods as well as materials science, with a strong focus on biological and bioinspired materials development, and will be capable of reviewing and assessing proposed materials-related concepts for scientific and technical merit.
•Strong technical writing skills, ability to communicate complex scientific ideas to broad audiences, digest basic and applied research across areas of biology, bioelectronics, materials science, and materials chemistry, and demonstrate a willingness to explore the scientific literature for emerging technologies and innovations.
•Outstanding organization, communication, coordination, and time management skills are required.
•Must be able to work within a multi-disciplinary team and handle a wide variety of tasks, including briefing support, program management, and general administrative actions.
•Candidate must have a security clearance (Top-Secret preferred, Secret with ability to obtain a TS clearance required), to allow unsupervised entrance and work within the DARPA facility.
