POSTING FOR SRS BARGAINING UNIT MEMBERS ONLY Typical work assignments include supporting survivability testing on systems and components to include nuclear effects, electromagnetic environmental effects, and directed energy effects. Provide test system setup, perform system checkouts, collect, reduce and analyze data and help prepare test reports. Support component level characterizations, and setup data acquisition systems to collect data for survivability assessment programs. Support radiated emissions testing and field mapping. Build and repair fiber optic and coaxial cables. Provide operational and maintenance services for test facility systems and equipment such as Fast Burst Reactor, Gamma Radiation Facility, Linear Accelerator, Relativistic Electron Beam Accelerator, Electromagnetic Pulse Facilitates, Electromagnetic Radiation Facilities, and Electrostatic Discharge and Lightning Facilities. Provide technical guidance to lower level technicians. Other duties may be assigned within his/her capabilities. Work will include cross-utilization into other jobs as required. May require overtime and/or weekend work.
Candidate must have demonstrated their ability to safely handle radioactive materials and have a current Radioactive Materials Handler Certification and/or a Non-Ionizing Radiation Certification. Candidate must have a thorough working knowledge of characterization equipment as well as an understanding of nuclear environments, dosimetry, and semiconductor functions. Qualification requirements include graduation from a two-year resident course at a technical institution with five years progressive experience in the a-fore mentioned specialty field. Applicable Military, Department of Energy or Commercial Training will be considered based on duration and depth of training. Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license. Applicant selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
