POSITION DESCRIPTION: Performs corrective and preventive maintenance functions. Determines malfunctions and resolves system problems. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by reference to manufacturers' manuals or similar documents in working on a diversity of systems. Performs installations of equipment and systems, overhauling, troubleshooting, modifying, testing and operating with advanced application of technical knowledge. Works from engineering design specifications and requirements and verbal instructions from engineers and scientists in the generalized areas of electricity, electronics, mechanics, structures and physics. Develops maintenance and operational test procedures for various systems and their interfaces. Gathers test results or experimental findings for analysis and reports.
Is required to provide technical guidance to lower level technicians. Performs other related miscellaneous duties as required. Performs work and maintains work areas in a neat, orderly and safe manner. Work may be reviewed by supervisor for compliance with accepted practices. Work may require the support of mission schedules with overtime and weekend work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must be a graduate of a two-year resident course at a technical institution with five years progressive experience in the specialty field for which application is being made or a total of eight years progressive experience in the specific field. Must be familiar with the operation and maintenance of equipment applicable to the specialty and associated test equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicant selected may be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Work will include cross training and certification for other jobs on the contract and associated cross-utilization into these and other jobs as required.
