Operates, maintains, repairs, and installs various types of electronic equipment associated with the ASR-9 radar; personal computers and peripherals; industrial measuring, monitoring and controlling equipment. Applies in-depth technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions, and applies skill in restoring equipment operations. Serves as technical manager of isolated ASR-9 radar sites. Duties are essentially those of an Electronic Technician A with the added responsibility of providing technical guidance and coordination of the crew. Understanding of Microsoft Operating Systems and Office products.
Sets up, operates and maintains a variety of electronic instrumentation equipment associated with the ASR-9 radar. Applies in-depth technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents. Examples of such problems include identifying failures in electronic circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering changes. Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence and in selecting tools and testing instruments. Verifies that ASR-9 radars are within OEM and support parameters prior to test support. Ensures site records comply with FAA regulations.
Work typically requires an in-depth understanding of the interrelationships of circuits. Exercises independent judgment in identifying equipment failures, performing electronic circuit analyses, calculating waveforms, and troubleshooting by tracing relationships in signal flow. Uses test instruments such as oscilloscopes, pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, meters, and complex computer control equipment. Work may be reviewed by supervisor for compliance with accepted practices. Provides technical guidance to lower level technicians. Performs other duties as required. Communicates and works effectively with supervisors, coworkers, Government and other personnel.
Work will include associated cross-utilization into other jobs as required. May require TDY, overtime and weekend work.
