Job Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for completing virtual vehicle appraisals via photos, photo-based estimating equipment and remote tools in order to properly assess the damages and complete a thorough, accurate, and competitive estimate or total loss inspection in a timely manner consistent with department goals. 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY 

Complete all daily and monthly assignments in a timely manner.  

Maintain all forms and equipment assigned, including but not limited to, calculator, camera, automated estimating systems, computer, printer, company cell phone. 

Submit completed appraisal report and supporting documentation to the appropriate Claims Representative within the department cycle time goal. 

Make appropriate assignments to field personnel should it be determined a field inspection is necessary. 

Complete supplements with field assistance as required. 

Update the Claims Representatives, peers, and Physical Damage Manager on any changes or updates in the auto repair industry, or in your local area of responsibility, as appropriate. 

Maintain relations with all other professions in the auto repair and insurance industries, as well as maintain a high standard of ethical behavior in all professional relationships. 

Report any Underwriting matters or evidence of external fraud to the Physical Damage Manager. 

Evaluate and document the Actual Cash Value (ACV) of any vehicle determined to be a total loss according to procedures.

Demonstrate willingness to assist with or participate in pilot programs at the direction of Physical Damage Manager. 

Assist in the training and mentoring newly hired Claim Representatives and Physical Damage Appraisers.  

Provide coverage for peers as directed by Physical Damage Manager. 

Assist in the development and presentation of training courses and modules for team, district, regional and statewide meetings as directed by Physical Damage managers and/or State Physical Damage Manager.

Attend all team, region and statewide training as directed by the respective Physical Damage Manager or State Physical Damage Manager. 

Comply with the Certified Fleet Operator requirements of the Company Driving and Safety Policy. 

Other duties as assigned. 


Job Qualifications:

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS 

High school diploma or equivalent. 

3-5 years’ experience in physical damage appraising for an insurance company or as a body shop appraiser or manager. 

All Lines Adjuster license from the Texas Department of Insurance, maintained according to the licensing requirements set forth by the state of Texas; or have the ability to obtain such license in a reasonable period. 

Ability to develop high competence level and utilization of computer-based estimatics platform. 

Ability to develop strong knowledge of computer applications including the following:

Outlook e-mail system

The company Intranet

The electronic claims system

Mitchell Estimating Platform 

Effective interpersonal verbal skills. 

Effective typing/keyboarding skills. 

Effective organizational skills. 

Ability to plan, organize, and complete detailed work independently or in a team environment. 

In the event of required assistance due to a catastrophe or workload, willing to travel as required. 

Valid Texas driver’s license and driving record at the time of hire which would not place the employee on probation or disqualify the employee from Certified Fleet Operator status under the Company Driving and Safety Policy.

Use of PC, telephone, copy machine, fax, and other office equipment over six (6) hours per day.

 

Extended periods of sitting and concentration.

 

Occasional bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, lifting, and moving items weighing up to 30 lbs.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Occasional long, irregular hours.

Travel, including overnight travel, as required.

Work to be conducted in office environment owned or leased by the company; or from a home office based on geographic location.
