Job Responsibilities:

This position assists farm and ranch leaders by promoting agriculture, supporting and maintaining strong County Farm Bureaus, and providing background assistance to reduce workload and time for volunteer leaders in agriculture.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY

Assist in developing, coordinating and implementing agriculture and member programs in assigned areas.

Act as a liaison between the state and county units on programs in assigned geographic area.

Train county officers, committees, leaders, and office staff regarding their roles in the organization to increase their effectiveness in the community.

Implement procedures and provide information about Farm Bureau programs as requested by County Farm Bureaus.

Regularly meet with County Farm Bureau boards to provide information and assistance.

Encourage volunteer membership leaders to ensure a maximum number of gaining counties in assigned geographic area.

Assist as requested in planning and conducting the district, state, and special county meetings involving other state staff.

Assist counties in promoting agriculture via the Ag-in-the-Classroom program and other Education and Outreach programs.

Work with media, legislative offices and other entities as assigned by the Director of Field Operations.

Comply with the Certified Fleet Operator requirements of the Company Driving and Safety Policy.

Other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.

Agriculture background.

Effective writing skills.

Ability to create and present presentations.

Ability to meet and work with the media.

Ability to organize and develop plans in order to implement programs.

Working knowledge of basic computer applications, mainly Microsoft Office Suite.

Effective time management skills. Self-disciplined and mature judgment needed.

Ability to understand and carry out directions as needed.

Some knowledge of legislative process.

Job will require travel and varying hours of work including some weekends.

Must comply with the Certified Fleet Operator requirements of the Company Driving and Safety Policy.

Candidates must have a valid Texas driver’s license and a driving record at the time of hire which would not place the employee on probation or disqualify the employee from Certified Fleet Operator Status under the Company Driving and Safety Policy.

Physical activities including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
