The Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) is the state’s largest general farm and ranch membership organization that is committed to successfully advancing the public policy interests of farmers and ranchers.
The Legal Intern will be a part of the TFB legislative team and work in the TFB State Legislative Office in Austin during the 2025 Regular Session of the Texas Legislature. During the internship, the intern will gain valuable knowledge and experience in the legislative process and the role of membership organizations in that process.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY
The intern will report to the State Legislative Director and assist the associate legislative directors with advocating the public policy positions of the Texas Farm Bureau.
The intern will assist by performing research on legislation and policy issues, writing bill summaries for the staff and the weekly Austin Newsletter sent to TFB members, and occasionally attending and monitoring legislative meetings or hearings as time and opportunity allows. The intern will also assist with preparing legislative presentations and documents.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate must have a practical knowledge of production agriculture and rural issues. Also, a concentration or strong interest in the areas of property, environmental/water, administrative and agricultural law is highly preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Repeated use of PC, telephone, and office machines.
Extended periods of sitting and concentrating.
Occasional bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing and reaching in an office environment.
Occasional lifting and moving items weighing up to 30 lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Occasional long, irregular work hours.
Travel as required.
