JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Position Summary:

The Aircraft Mechanic Lead is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and inspection of aircraft components, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and in compliance with MRO, federal, and OSHA regulations. This role involves conducting thorough inspections, identifying defects, and taking corrective action as needed. The lead mechanic consults manuals and specifications to guide repairs, supervises the installation of new parts, and ensures the precision of repairs. They maintain detailed documentation, troubleshoot issues, and provide leadership and mentorship to junior mechanics while ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and perform regular maintenance on aircraft components, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and in compliance with MRO, Federal, and OSHA regulations.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of records for maintenance, repairs, inspections, and services, ensuring accuracy and adherence to industry standards.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and examinations of various components, identifying cracks, corrosion, defects, or wear, and taking corrective action as needed.
  • Consult maintenance manuals and specifications to ensure all repairs and replacements follow correct operational procedures and meet required safety and performance standards.
  • Supervise and perform the installation of new parts, ensuring that all replacements or repairs of components are done to specifications and improve performance.
  • Oversee repairs, ensuring the integrity and safety of aircraft components while maintaining precision in all tasks.
  • Identify and resolve issues based on inspections or reports from MRO customers, providing expert troubleshooting and guidance for corrective actions.
  • Document and manage all records related to inspections, repairs, and reassembly of components, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal audits.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Federal, MRO, and OSHA regulations throughout all maintenance activities, maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior mechanics, assisting with complex repairs and ensuring the team follows best practices for maintenance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, supporting the overall maintenance operation and enhancing team performance.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • A&P Certification or ability to obtain Repairman Certificate.
  • In-depth knowledge of aircraft components, systems, and parts, with the ability to lead inspections, maintenance, and repairs for optimal performance.
  • Comprehensive understanding of tools and testing methods used to ensure the functionality and integrity of components.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software for maintaining and managing detailed records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and mechanical aptitude, ensuring precision and quality workmanship in all tasks.
  • Expert ability to interpret technical documentation, including Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs), Structural Repair Manuals (SRMs), drawings, and specifications, to guide accurate repairs and replacements.
  • Proven ability to perform effectively under pressure, ensuring high-quality results even in stressful or time-sensitive situations.
  • Strong ability to conduct inspections and perform repairs, ensuring integrity and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Adaptability to learn new skills and repair methods, staying updated with industry advancements and implementing best practices.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to consistently meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling clear discussions about equipment malfunctions and the ability to complete accurate reports and documentation.
  • Commitment to superior craftsmanship, ensuring that all repairs and maintenance are conducted to the highest standards of safety and quality.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Part 145 Repair Station experience preferred.
  • “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

 

Travel:

  • Some travel may be required.

 

Language:

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on occasions.
  • Carrying, Bending, Walking, Pushing, Climbing, Reaching.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in machine shop / component repair environment.
  • Momentary exposure to high noises.
  • Exposure to chemicals and cleaning agents.
  • Personal Protection Equipment may be required for certain tasks.
