Quality Assurance Supervisor

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position Summary:

A Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the quality control and assurance processes related to surplus aviation parts and equipment in compliance with industry regulations and standards. This role ensures that all surplus materials meet safety, performance, and reliability standards before being approved for use in aviation operations.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Quality Control Oversight:
    • Oversee the inspection and evaluation of surplus aviation parts and equipment to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, ISO standards, and company quality policies.
    • Ensure all surplus parts meet airworthiness standards and are properly documented.
  2. Process Management:
    • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols and procedures for handling surplus aviation materials.
    • Oversee non-conformance reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.
    • Ensure proper tagging, tracking, and documentation of surplus parts throughout the supply chain.
  3. Team Supervision:
    • Lead, mentor, and train a team of quality assurance staff and quality inspectors.
    • Assign tasks and manage workflows of quality assurance staff for areas including, but not limited to, document management, records and archive management, vendor and customer management, and internal audits.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and support team members’ growth.
  4. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, AS9120, ISO9001, and other relevant standards.
    • Maintain detailed and accurate records of inspections, certifications, and quality documentation.
    • Coordinate with regulatory bodies during audits and assessments.

  5. Supplier and Vendor Relations:
    • Evaluate and audit suppliers and vendors to ensure their compliance with quality standards for surplus materials.
    • Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues and ensure continuous improvement in the supply chain.
  6. Customer Support:
    • Liaise with customers to address quality concerns and ensure their requirements are met for surplus parts.
    • Provide technical guidance on quality-related issues for surplus aviation materials.
  7. Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall quality performance.
    • Lead initiatives focused on improving quality assurance standards and practices.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an AS9120 environment.
  • Experience in handling commercial aviation surplus.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of FAA and EASA regulations and aviation maintenance
  • Some understanding of business metrics and report preparation

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s/master’s degree preferred or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • AS9100/ISO9001 auditor experience preferred
  • Project Management experience
  • Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or equivalent experience preferred.

 Travel:

  • Travel may be required up to 10%

 

Language:   

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. on occasions.
  • Carrying, Walking, Pushing, Climbing, Reaching.

 

Working Conditions:

  • This position works primarily in an office environment, with visits to the warehouse floor necessary.
