POSITION SUMMARY:
WC Smith is seeking a Custodian to join us at Clarence House Apartments, located in Northwest DC. This individual is responsible for the maintaining the property grounds, running minor maintenance tickets, and handling resident related concerns. 

The work schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00am to 10:00am on alternating weekends. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Completing daily inspections of property grounds and common areas.
  • Maintaining the security of the property by ensuring building and apartment doors are secured.
  • Maintaining the required property uniform and assuring the professional appearance and attitude at all times.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the property grounds and public areas, including but not limited to the roof deck, laundry room, and trash room. 
  • Completing and submitting work tickets on time and upon completion.
  • Assisting in completion of preventative maintenance schedules of equipment and operating systems.
  • Assisting in maintaining the inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies, including receiving deliveries of supplies, unboxing and storing supplies.
  • Keeping workshop, utility room and break room in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Notifying the manager of needed maintenance and repair on the property.
  • Assisting in readying vacant apartments for leasing.
  • Assisting in groundskeeping and snow removal at the property as needed.
  • Assumes responsibility for after-hour emergencies (on-call) as needed. 
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least one years' custodial, basic maintenance, or similar experience. 
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of cleaning and groundskeeping. 
  • General knowledge of entry level maintenance and repair tasks, tools and equipment is a plus. 
  • Aware of and operate within OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Act) standards, OSHA certification is a plus. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent desired.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time (8 hours or more per day) to perform the following physical activities: bending, climbing step ladders, lifting, carrying, grasping, gripping, turning, reaching above shoulders, pushing and pulling climbing stairs, stooping and squatting/ kneeling.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 50lbs, and occasionally up to 75 lbs. 
  • Must be able to work inside and outside in various weather conditions.
