Job Description:

SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN:  Under the direct supervision of the Vice President of Development and Community Affairs and working in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer, the YDI Media Intern, or Social Media Marketing Intern, is responsible for assisting in a range of marketing initiatives within the organization. Their duties include tracking analytics for social media campaigns, creating social media posting schedules and writing captions for social media posts, and working with the external Media partners in scheduling press conferences as needed.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Currently enrolled in a degree program focusing on Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or Marketing.

Impeccable oral and written communication skills.

Experience organizing business related events.

Excellent internet research skills.

Mastery of the major social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Snap and Google+.

Knowledge of social media analytics software including Facebook Insights, Google Analytics and Twitter Analytics to track audience engagement and campaign performance.

Experience with content management systems, word processor applications and image/video editing software.

 

JOB CHARACTERISTICS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This is a non-exempt Intern position.  The Intern must have strong organizational and communication skills, as well as judgment, tact, and diplomacy in contacts with YDI employees, community residents, parents, local government agencies and other media related organizations. Strict adherence is required to all regulations concerning confidentiality. Background check to include fingerprinting will be required. Physical is required upon hire and may be required intermittently.  Travel may be required. Proof of satisfactory car insurance must be provided.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (NOT INCLUSIVE):

Assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns.

Create weekly and monthly editorial calendars to promote company brands on various social media websites.

Create and distribute content such as blogs, newsletters, event invitations, infographics, videos and press releases on social media and traditional news outlets.

Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability.

Support Vice President at organization live and online events (planning, organizing and implementation of various programs).

Perform social media marketing research.

Respond to comments and DMs on social media platforms.

Brainstorm and research ideas for original content.

Create compelling graphics to share across social channels.

Write social media captions that speak to the company’s target audience.

Help create and edit short-form videos.

Develop new strategies for increasing engagement.

Assist with photo/video content shoots.

Ensure brand message is consistent.
